The Foreign Commercial Service based in the U.S. Consulate General in Casablanca,
in collaboration with the United States Trade and Development Agency (USTDA), organized, on February 11 – 21, 2024, a reverse trade mission for the benefit of a high-level Moroccan delegation.

With its focus on digital development and innovation, the reverse trade mission stands as an example of U.S.-Morocco
partnership, placing American trusted technology at the service of Moroccan economic prosperity, and increasing Morocco’s attractiveness to the international business community.

“Morocco is engaged in a strategically crucial digital transformation process. As the Kingdom develops its
digital governance and economy, the U.S. government and private sector are absolutely committed to supporting our friend, Morocco, to ensure an exemplary digital transformation utilizing cutting-edge, trusted technology,” U.S. Ambassador Puneet Talwar said.

The Moroccan delegation included fifteen participants representing the Ministry of Digital Transformation and Administration Reform, ADD, DGSSI, CGEM, AUSIM, Technopark and APEBI.

The delegates visited Austin, Texas, and Silicon Valley in California, and attended more than twenty professional
meetings with world-renowned American technology companies, and with American governmental institutions which shared their experiences in e-Gov, AI and cybersecurity.

“American digital companies are at the forefront of innovation and technology,” said Ms. Sarah Lamrani, Secretary
General of the Ministry of Digital Transformation and Administration Reform. By participating in this visit, the delegation “seeks to benefit from their expertise and learn from their best practices to stimulate the growth of the digital sector in Morocco…
and attract investments in the Moroccan digital sector,” she added.

Moroccan delegates met with major U.S. technology companies and start-ups, including Oracle, Microsoft, Cisco,
Cloudera, Google Cloud Services, Palo Alto Netoworks, Amazon Web Services, PlugandPlay, Nutanix, Tyler Technologies, and Spark Cognition.

This visit familiarized delegates with the latest U.S. technologies, services, and best practices in data centers,
cloud computing, and digital government services.

In addition, the visit supports Morocco’s digital transformation efforts, which aim to digitize public sector services,
support e-commerce, and create an adequate ecosystem for start-ups.

Several participating American companies, including Microsoft, Oracle and Cisco, have long term relationships with
Morocco through investment in the country’s workforce development. Over the past year alone, more than 75,000 students in Morocco accessed training content provided by American companies.

American commitment to supporting Morocco’s digital transformation also comes in the form of professional and academic
exchange programs, capacity building programs, B2B opportunities, and technology transfer initiatives.

About the USTDA

The U.S. Trade and Development Agency connects America’s private sector to priority

digital infrastructure projects in emerging economies. USTDA achieves its mission by funding feasibility studies,
technical assistance and pilot projects that integrate the innovation and expertise of U.S. companies. The Agency also connects overseas project sponsors with U.S. partners through its reverse trade missions, industry conferences and expert workshops.

USTDA is unique among federal agencies: it is mandated by Congress to promote U.S. industry participation in infrastructure
projects at the critical early stages when design choices and technology options are being determined and defined.
